Don't settle

I think Steve Jobs said and did some of the most inspirational and visionary things I will see in my lifetime. Beyond his professional life, his personal life and how he led it with such privacy and dignity are moving. This is an excerpt from his commencement speech at Stanford in 2005.

"Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle."

This hits home all too much, certainly with most people my age.We are the age of technology and innovation, but mixed with recession and a struggling economy. It is hard not to settle when you have to pay the bills. I have not seen in my (short) professional lifetime a hiring boom or surplus of jobs. But, as Jobs said "if you haven't found it yet, keep looking."
